Trump Travel Ban Takes Effect/Prohibición de Viaje Trump En Efecto

[versión en español abajo]
Trump Travel Ban Takes Effect
What Happened?
On Monday, December 4th, the Supreme Court allowed the third version of the Trump Administration’s travel ban to go into effect. It continues to face multiple legal challenges in lower courts.

Who does this affect?
Effective immediately, citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad, North Korea, and some groups from Venezuela will not be able to obtain U.S. visas, regardless of ties to the United States.

Green card holders and dual citizens are not subject to the ban, and will be allowed to travel.

What about citizens from one of the eight countries who have a bona fide (legitimate) relationship with a person/entity in the U.S.?
Federal judges in Maryland and Hawaii have previously blocked the implementation of the travel ban, while temporarily allowing foreign nationals with a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States” to enter. Monday’s news no longer allows for those with bona fide relationships to travel to the U.S.

Next Steps:
The Supreme Court has not yet ruled on this issue; however, these travel restrictions are effective immediately while the travel ban’s fate is determined in lower courts.

¿A quién afecta?
