Protect Your Family This Holiday Season By Having A Plan

The holidays are about putting others before yourself. During this season, take the time to create a plan that will protect you and your family from the worst-case scenario: detention and/or deportation.

In previous blogs, we discussed how ICE’s priorities are in limbo. Imagine you are undocumented, living in the United States with your loved ones. You go out to buy groceries for your family, and another driver rear-ends you. Although you didn’t cause the accident, you were driving without a license. Because you were driving without a license, you are detained. Local law enforcement will likely report you to ICE when you arrive at the jail, and ICE may ask the local police to hold you in custody. If ICE takes you into custody, removal proceedings have begun.

Driving without a license is a misdemeanor crime, but this could be very significant for an undocumented person.

Build a Deportation Protection Plan with STERN Law, LLC

STERN Law, LLC offers a unique product to support and protect undocumented people who have resided in the United States for 10 years or more and have only minor criminal convictions, like traffic offenses. Not only do we want you to have a plan, but we want to create a Deportation Protection Plan for you.

What Does the Deportation Protection Plan Do?

The goal is to have the binder on you at all times to show the authorities that you qualify for release from custody and to fight your case. You are eligible to get a bond if you have (1) ten years of presence in the United States, (2) are a person of good moral character with minimal criminal convictions, and (3) have a hardship to a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident spouse, parent or child.

We help you gather all of the documents to prove these three things. We also provide you with a skeleton bond motion for the immigration court.  Without having these documents ready in an emergency, it could take 2-3 weeks to gather these documents, and another week before you can see a judge. During that time, you are in jail, away from your family, and helpless. It is best to be prepared ahead of time.

Begin Planning

We understand how vital this document is for you, and the goal is to create it for you in about a month. Talking with the police can be overwhelming, and when you have your binder, you can allow it to communicate everything you need to say. To start building yours, contact us today to schedule your consultation to see if you qualify.
